The French firm Inoreal has introduced Satiereal, a novel extract of saffron that reduces the urge to snack and enhances the experience of satiety. The product is available as Re-Body Hunger Chews and Re-Body Hunger Caps, and as Appetite Control 100 for Fembody Nutrition. Through its active ingredient, saffron extract, Satiereal increases serotonin levels. Increased serotonin has a mood-enhancing effect, and helps curb “emotional eaters’” drive to snack.
In a clinical study published in Nutrition Research, it was shown that Satiereal caused a significantly greater body weight reduction than placebo after 8 weeks, and snacking frequency also was significantly decreased.
